Almost ten years ago I did this big sucker when I was in grad school. At the time, it consisted of 7 panels and tangentially connected to the BP oil spill and a one-liner about a few unrelated people in a boat. Since then, it has been floating around in various groupings of the panels in a variety of locations, including sometimes just gathering dust (and likely a little bit of rat urine) in storage. For whatever reason, nobody seemed to be interested in a painting of a bunch of fat men, jockeys, prostitutes, and old prospectors riding around in boats to hang above their couch. I know, beats me too, it’s just the world we live in. Nobody wanted it, that is until my wife @hello.shannon decided she wanted exactly that as a “push present” for taking on the task of growing a human inside of her for a second time around and subsequently “pushing” it out, releasing it unto the world. Thus, I propped this old dog up and starting tinkering around with four of the panels all these years later. This is a big throwback from 2009 when Terry contacted me to do a character design of a short animation he was creating about Adam and Eve, with a very cheeky Monty Pythonesque take. The first doodle was one of the initial sketches I submitted that eventually led to him picking me as the sole designer. Apparently when he saw it, he exclaimed, ‘we’ve got our design!’ It has always been one of my career highlights talking with him on the phone for a few hours- I could barely keep up with his keen and quick wit. #terryjones #characterdesign #sketch #illustration #adamandeve #montypython

Here’s a little taste- “Poochini” 2020, acrylic on panel. Color palette was heavily influenced by Goodnight Moon, though I wasn’t brave enough to go full on blood orange. What can I say folks? If you didn’t want to see cowardly work you wouldn’t be on my page. A tad late in posting these finished pictures of the Hive mural. Thanks to @scaddotedu for the opportunity. I'm humbled that such a great school that always has some amazing projects going on likes to use my services. Hopefully the returning and new students dig their new cafeteria mural. Needless to say, this was a beast that required lots of talented people helping me. Accordingly, I'd like to thank them all. Huge thanks for all the hard work put in from my main guy and vinyl guru @samulacra to help me get this sucker done. @jared_seff_art for helping with the tedious task of scaling up the drawing and looking at yellow for several weeks. @cookillustration for helping over a weekend to meet some goals. @mel.artanddesign for applying your talent to some key areas- you knocked it out of the park with your wood texture. And of course, without a few volunteers that gave me their time @js_magicofcolor , @malia_carroll , @siennavarland I don't think I would have finished this at all in time for the Fall quarter. Britt Spencer has been pumping out drawings and other such nonsense for the better part of a decade. He is currently living in Savannah, GA. He plays disc golf poorly. 

His work has been published internationally and earned recognition from New American Paintings, The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts and Art Prize's Juried Short List.
